Coliseum of animosity ?

It wasn’t long ago when any deliberate act of terror, causing the reckoning of the death tolls & causalities, millions and zillions of NEWS channels covering every minute detail of the incident to prelusion of the blame game, the aftermath rather, never seemed so much of a cliché. It wasn’t long ago when common people could go out of their homes without any sense of insecurity creeping into their minds. But, as it stands now with the current scenario, that period of peace and harmony seems to be long lost amidst the menace of such radicalism and extremism.

In the name of God, the oft-repeatedly professed JIHADIS, architect such massacres. Who are these malignant species who appear to be humans but are without a heart? They have no religion; they don’t belong to any community. Their acts of utter abomination and barbarism leaves hordes of innocent people stranded with only one unanswered question- why? Is there really some one who is ready to answer, is there someone who can be blamed? In this baffled and chaotic state of affairs, is there a reason for common man to hope and wait for peace to see the light of the day? With the pages in book of history being filled with crimson ink every now and then, is there a reason to believe if there is an end? Where are we heading to? The unknown destiny—the doomsday as many refer to, is there no way to prevent such carnage? If at all anything is to be done, it should be to have faith and adherence and stand united against terrorism.

In this current world, where globalization has become the order of the day, the foremost question remains- why is India not well equipped to tackle terrorism as the Western and European counterparts are? How much more poignant suffering should we go through to learn? As hard as it may sound, it is for us to stand united in this quest for reconciliation. It’s high time that we understand the fact that a war against terrorism is not the one which wants us to saunter by a violent path. “An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind” as quoted by Gandhi, is an inevitable truth and we must abide by it. The recent array of unmerciful terrorist attacks being witnessed has predominantly been a consequence of the US’s controversial war against terrorism on Iraq and Taliban. It was a war that left horrendous scars and pulverized the very foundations of humanity. Before fighting terror, let’s make an endeavor to first stab the terrorist within ourselves. If blood for blood is the answer, then there is nothing that classifies us contrastive to the extremists.

In my understanding, terrorism needs to be confronted at primal level. There is no substitute to overpower terrorism but to attack the tools of terrorism. The primal tools of terrorism are poverty, illiteracy and the most pestilent of all- corruption. These ill elements of our society have been perennially averted by us. Terrorism is not just tempestuous act of violence by a group of anarchic people; it also is politics, politics by outlawed means. It’s not a new happening for us, be it Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination or the 93’ Mumbai blast, extremists have been enjoying support from the corrupt politicians and also ill willed locals in many of the incidences. Can terrorism survive without local support? NO it cannot. Khalistan terrorism of Punjab though being an entity of the past provides us with this answer. With the current scenario having US raising voice with India in threatening Pakistan to wipe out terrorist camps from its own soil, things might seem to be on a right track. But before zeroing out all other reasons to be worried about, let’s first have a look into our own realm. The democratic politics have been weakened by the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. It’s due to their unlawful approach for selfish agendas that terrorism has developed into inevitable phenomena, and it is corruption which has been depriving us from an amicable life.

Apparently, US and UK have not witnessed any major terrorist activity since the 9/11 massacre and 05’ London serial blast respectively. This makes us raise questions on why hasn’t Indian government been able to pull up their socks in this regard? But we, as citizens have a humongous role in this ordeal. The biggest blessing of a democracy is the freedom to VOTE. Have this provision been appropriately exploited? The answer sure is a formidable one. Ironically, it has been observed that more than 75% of the times, the number of people not voting is double the number of votes won by the winning party. Elections after elections pass by with no change in this equation. When will we stop being so delinquent? When will we start acting like ethical citizens? Is being liable such an arduous ask? Searching for answer within ourselves is preferential over searching it elsewhere. We have the potency to actuate and function as rebelling cult to make the government and people who run it accomplish their jobs rightfully and make India a secure place to live in.

Let there be a yet another Tsunami- a Tsunami of love. Let the hands be joined, let the seeds of love be sowed. Let there be an outrageous renaissance, with chants so loud and clear that they are heard like never before. Let those unlawful people feel the tides of change. Tides so vigorous and compelling that it shatters their audacity in carrying out such acts. Lets endure together to set examples rather than looking up for them. In this current time of sorrow, let’s stand unified today to see a brighter tomorrow.

SMUGGLED EMOTIONS

Crimson nights

Thawing the sky

Minds left spun

Woes disguised

Cascades of ruptures

Bitter tastes and a sigh

No sympathy bestowed

And no room to cry

“Peace sells” they say

Can’t figure out why?

Before you even tumble

They start bantering high

A fist or a gun

For malice or for fun

“The mint chase”

A mere setting of stage

This rubble of void souls

Drifting towards a carnage

Grim eyes

Grim souls

& grim hopes

This baffled globe is like

Entangled ropes

BEING CAPTIVATED

Unwilled forms of desire

A few travelled steps

Reigning to conspire

Abjuring pathos

The race put on pyre

No dearth for anxiety

& Radical apprehensions hired

Hordes of people

Jolting being dazed

Weaker they get

Trying to be upraised

Craving for a position

Abandoning all they got

Unpleasant chatters

Sabotaging the sublime lot

Questing for the lucre

And for fugitive success

Helpless in their own ways

Poignantly distressed

Confounding tumbles

An Epidemic on routine

In harmonizing the society

Brutish race is never keen

Kneeling down

And hysterical cries

Fetching no reconciliations

Feeling tormented high

Confessions don’t work

For they come too late

Searching Antidote never ends

To cure the sense of hate

Peeled off to the skin

Everything seems grim

Wrecked up with Voidance

The Feeling of being jaded

Living in the free world?

Or are we just

“Being captivated”?
